One of my students is seeking her musical direction as far as genre is concerned-while her roots are in folk/bluegrass,she desires to go in a different musical direction-if she only knew what that was. So- I decided to do a gypsy tune in TAB for her and she absolutely fell in love with it. Now she's requesting more. So I got a hold of some tunebooks and am tabbing out the songs. She also loves blues. I recently picked up a used copy of Mandolin Blues by Delgrasso and love the book. In time,I'll be teaching her a song or two from that book.
In the meantime, I'm also pursuing Gypsy Jazz and refreshing my caroling list of tunes, and I've started using Skype exclusively to teach from as Facebook video chat had gotten very unreliable. (Nothing worse than having a student pay for a lesson only to find you can't hook up for the lesson!) Skype has been totally reliable and easy to use.
