I finally got to jam tonight with some local guys here in Okinawa who play some great bluegrass. Billed as "the Sometimes Bluegrass Band", it consisted of Hiroshige Kitanjo on guitar, Tetsuji Uehara on fiddle and Masafumi Tokuchi on mandolin. They were kind enough to let a rank amature like me sit in and it was great. I turned my Weber Yellowstone HT to Tokuchi-san to try, and it never sounded so good. I was playing banjo, mostly vamping and singing. I was all thumbs, but it was a great time. At least I'm invited back at their next jam, and I will be there. This was my first time playing with anyone, and I had a blast.
