my mandolin journey

Posted by seancannon on Friday, April 27, 2012

so it all started out with me listening to a lot of different types of music but one reoccurring similarity yes there is a mandolin in the music somewhere, well after my lovely girlfriend saying i had an eclectic taste in music  and asking me to explain as to why i told her that i loved the sound of the mandolin and never thought anymore about it , well one day after coming home from work and once again singing in the bath to a variety of music mainly from chris thile , sierra hull , the waterboys , the levellers and rod stewart with a bit of the dubliners thrown in my lass asked to why i had not learnt to play to which my reply was could never afford a mandolin (at this point i had looked at the most expensive ones only ) well a couple of weeks went by and then i came home and my lass had me on the music sites looking again but this time at beginners ones and saw a Tanglewood union series i loved so she ordered it , to say i couldn't wait would be an understatement . so know instead of listening to the mandolin i am now learning , the fingers are sore and the chords are a bit all over the place but i will get there.
