Performed for the Washington (Missouri) Historical Society's Annual Fundraising Dinner. $50 a plate (that's $100 per couple) for dinner, a silent auction, reader's theatre, and live music (us). (We got in free)
People were fascinated by my collection of mandolins. Took my Kay mandolin, my Weber octave mandolin, and my Gibson mandocello. The mandocello got lots of ooh's and aah's.
We played before the formal program and during mini-breaks in the reader's theatre. Performed "Little Drummer Boy" as a solo on the mandocello (such a cool sound -- got a lot of people's attention). Played "Wayfaring Stranger" on the little Kay (learned from a Bill Monroe recording). The octave was used for a dark version of "Shady Grove."
We even passed out a few business cards.
And during the silent auction I bought a couple of paintings.
