Howdy buddys, partners, and fellow mandoliners…
I'll be teaching an online Concert Window mandolin workshop this SUN DEC 9th at 2 p.m. EST. For our tune this session I’ve chosen an easy going D tune Tennessee Girls played by John Dykes of the Dykes Magic City Trio. John Dykes was a Virginia fiddler that later moved to Kingsport Tenn. and had a fine fiddle sound. He often tuned in cross G tuning so it may actually be closer to Key of C. I think we will also try it in C and look at both keys’ nuances as it works well in either key. To watch make a minimum $10 donation (higher amounts are appreciated) on www.concertwindow.com. We will learn the melody and some back up possibilities to boot.
If you want to hear about other upcoming workshops you can find me on Concert Window and click the heart to follow. Thanks to all the folks that tune in and send comments or questions. Also, don’t miss Erynn’s DEC 9th 4 p.m. fiddle workshop featuring a great Melvin Wine Tune: Christmas Morning. I am also doing a banjo workshop DEC 9th at 6 p.m. and guitar workshop (same evening) at 8 p.m.
For more details and to look for future workshops go to www.concertwindow.com. It is extra nice to stay
by the fire on a snowy day while learning a new tune. Please spread the word and also check out www.dittyville.com to see where Erynn & I are headed next.
Wishing everyone a hearty Cheers & a Merry Christmas
Thanks, Carl
