This recording is of the Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra, previously The McLean County Mandolin Society. I recorded them and they let me add the High mandolin harmony and solo some at the end. They are based in Bloomington IL.

Banjo and guitar players can bend their strings to get more feeling, especially on blues tunes. Dobro and fiddle players can slide into and out of note. All that happens when you try to bend the strings on a mandolin is that you pull it out of tune. Feeling this frustration, I wrote a song about not being able to bend the strings on my F-5 at Bluegrass jam sessions when there are so many Bluegrass Blues tunes. I recorded one mandolin break on my F-5 but mostly I used a homemade 4 string electric mandolin. I also played An arch-top rhythm guitar and an electric bass. Doug Knecht played banjo which I ran through a "Heavy Metal" distortion setting. Mandohangout is probably the only audience I was accidentally writing this song for.

This is named after my son Jacob minus the final b. I was trying to write a slightly hyper tune. I played mandolin and Dobro. Doug Knecht played banjo and rhythm guitar and Danny Greene played bass.

This song was written for my wife. Our daughter, Jordan, played the piano on the "vox" intro with me playing harmony on the mandolin. I played lead and harmony mandolins. Polly Launay played violin and Matt Ludwig played the piano.
