I've played guitar since high school (ླྀs). I have just purchased my first mandolin, so, other than having some dexterity with fretboards and picks, I'm a total rookie when it comes to the mandolin

Just someone who enjoys picking. I'm involved more with church music than any other musical activities. Mostly a fingerpicking guitarist, I've played the same Martin D18S since 1975. Acquired classical, 12-string, and bass guitars along the way but the Martin is still the one I reach for most of the time. I've just purcahsed a Loar--sorry, "The Loar"--LM400 mandolin from folkmusician.com. I'm thinking it's going to be getting a goodly portion of my attention in the months--perhaps years--to come. When I'm not picking', which is--unfortunately--too often, I work as an editor. In past iterations I've been a church pastor and a high school music teacher. Husband, father, grandfather. Guess that's about it.
