My mother and grandmother taught violin and mandolin for ~40 years each.
I was exposed, but baseball, basketball, and football won out...though I picked up the guitar (to their consternation) in H.S.. Now that everyone plays the guitar, and having inherited a Flat Iron mandola, and a very old mandolin, I have enjoyed spending more time learning and accumulating more mandolins than I need. It seems to go with the territory. Fun.
Can't deny the fun, though.
