I couldn't be more pleased to learn of and join this new site. I've been visiting the banjo site for some time, though my banjo playing is the equivalent of "Ned in the first reader."
Mandolins are more fun; eaier to play, and tote, though I'm sure real banjo players would disagree.

My mother and grandmother taught violin and mandolin for ~40 years each. I was exposed, but baseball, basketball, and football won out...though I picked up the guitar (to their consternation) in H.S.. Now that everyone plays the guitar, and having inherited a Flat Iron mandola, and a very old mandolin, I have enjoyed spending more time learning and accumulating more mandolins than I need. It seems to go with the territory. Fun. Can't deny the fun, though.
