You know how it is with musicians-we need to start on carols in the summer to have em come out naturally by December-and that is what I'm doing,as well as learning "Dry & Dusty" & memorizing it,in addition to working on chords & rhythm,plus learning clawgrass style banjo. But back to mandolin-Baroque mandolin has recently caught my ear,so I'm getting familiar with those style tunes. As far as seasonal songs,I've gotten used to hearing carols while preparing to celebrate the beginning of Fall and Halloween. Football is back,and I've cut back on how many games I watch,in addition to cutting back on TV period. While I will still watch a few of the series that I like,I have decided that I've spent way too much time in front of the tube in previous years that had cut back on my playing.
Aside from playing my knitting needles and crochet hooks are once again being used. Tho I have tried to be a year round knitter/crocheter,the truth is I get into it from just before Fall till we really warm up in mid Spring. I can't explain it,but there it is,and I finally quit fighting it and now go with the flow. Purchased a couple of wonderful books for knitting socks,boot toppers,neckwarmers,and hats. And I do sell what I make except for socks.
So-out comes the Fall decor,bit by bit. the days are cooling,that wonderful slight chill is in the air in the early mornings,and I'm having to wear a handcrafted shawlette now when I get up. Bliss!
