OLGA EGOROVA / DUO RO Olga Egorova is Russia’s top mandolin player. She has been playing instruments since the age of six – starting with the domra (the Russian folk lute) and is, today, a highly-skilled, multi-genre musician. Olga’s main instrument is electric mandolin with guitar pedal effects. She also plays domra, melodeon, xylophone, tambourine, bodhran and more. Using loop station plus unique energy and charisma she creates a multi-instrumental, multi-dimensional “one woman show” on stage, performing her own numbers as well as covers. Olga Egorova has played with banjo virtuoso Bill Evans and Czech bluegrass star Pavel Handlik; she works with top Russian folk, blues and rock musicians, such as legendary Russian group KukuruzA and original Russian bluesman Yuri Naumov, as well as western artists, including Jace Everett and Swinging London legend the Purple Gang of “Granny Takes a Trip” fame. More recently Olga joined up with ace guitarist Roman Palmov, who was bowled over by her musical originality and skill. A perfect match, they now work together as mandolin/guitar duet Duo RO. They uses elements of classical music, progressive rock, Russian folk and American bluegrass to make a unique, exciting, organic sound-texture. Both solo and as Duo RO, Olga has performed at major festivals in Russia and abroad including among others The Czech Republic, Germany (“20 International Country Music Messe”, 2015), Spain (“Wild Way Festival Country Charro”, 2015) and Monaco. “Olga Egorova – mandolinpower from Russia with electric mandolin, looper and other effect pedals. Using the looper she develops pieces track by track producing the sound of a whole band with nothing more than a single mandolin.” – Michael Reichenbach, MandoIsland Blog http://www.mandoisland.com/?p=6269#.VoPtwqfuWho.facebook (Germany) “Olga Egorova collaborated with us on our recording “We Meant No Harm”. She added so much of herself into the project – without intruding on our original ideas. In fact we were amazed at her contribution. We are very appreciative of Olga and her talents. She is the Russian Mandolin Queen! As an added aside – our former manager (and now my Publisher), the legendary Joe Boyd, appreciated her contribution also.” – Chris Joe Beard, “The Purple Gang” (UK) “A particular highlight [of 20 Internationale Country Music Messe] was the appearance of Olga Egorova and Roman Palmov who perform as Duo RO. They can bring out almost everything from a guitar and a mandolin to polish the finest bluegrass.” – “Kölner Stadt Unzeiger”, 12.04.2015 http://www.ksta.de/bergheim/internationale-messe-familientreffen-der-westernfreunde,15189172,30408796.html (Germany) “Mandolin player Olga Egorova’s performance was the spice of the InRock 15 Anniversary festival. She was looping phrases and overdubbing new counterpoints one by one, so that in the end her mandolin sounds like a thousand ringing voices.” – Elena Savitskaya, InRock magazine http://www.inrock.ru/english http://www.inrock.ru/live_reports/inrock15years (Russia) “The sound was highly intensive, tight, hard and, even edgy at times – Olga treated the audience to incredible cascades, waves of sound, which overtook and overlaced one another.” - Peter Kulesh, InRock magazine (Russia) “She is a scorcher! I was just astonished by Olga Egorova’s virtuoso mandolin technique – really mindblowing! I like the way mandolin sounds in a duet with guitar, and Olga and Roman play such duets amazingly.” - Vladimir Ilinsky, “Echo of Moscow” radio (Russia) “When Olga came to my program – it was magic! She has proved that the real rocker is not only a macho man with guitar or drums, but also a delicate, lovely lady with an instrument so exotic for rock music – a mandolin.” – Andrei Budberg, “Radio Mayak” (Russia)
