I can tell from the rush of excitement from my Washburn question below, that I am experiencing the ultimate loneliness. Let me try this one: Does anyone own a KM600? They were touted as the cat's meow in the upcoming Kentucky mid priced line up a couple of years ago. Where did they go? I have one. Anyone else?

Hi Bob,

Kentucky is having some trouble meeting demand right now. They actually have been for quite a while, but it has gotten much worse. The KM-600 is a victim of this. It seems like Kentucky had some a few months back. I don't know how many 600 models have been made, but it must not have been many. I doubt there are 50 in existence (just a guess). So currently you have a rarity! :)

Always, good to hear from you, Robert. Recall, if you can, that I got a "silver" tailpiece with the Kentucky scrolled on it...but the tuners were gold. as shown in pictures and the tailpiece is plain. You had a gold one "somewhere"...and thanks for looking. In the interim, Big Joe had mine plated and gave it a good "set up.". Thus, my KM600 is even more "rare," but like a customized Chevy, I doubt it will increase its value. My Washburn, mentioned below, has better tone and resonance...but not much. Might be the strings. I don't hear much praise for Wasburn mandolins, but I'm pleased with my "other rarity". Heck, I even own two more rarities. I'll start with one--Anyone ever heard of a Gitano? Didn't think so. It's a F, so-so sound. Don't feel sorry for me. My investment wasn't great.

I still keep an eye out for that tailpiece. I am convinced it is around here somewhere! Sounds like your good on your mandolin though.

I wanted to give you a follow-up on the KM-600. It is about to be a bit more common. hehe More 600 models are in route to the warehouse now. They are in fact, still being made. :)
