Bozeman made models are 2 to 5 grand A through F, N models are less expensive, pancake type. Nashville manufactured models are slightly less expensive . Those made in Korea are much less so 750 and up.... These need to be played first hand as quality varies. Those made in Bozeman are my personal favorites. R/

That's a Boseman Flat Iron Mandola in my avatar. Inherited and not for sale. There are fancier models, out there, albeit rare.

B. Bob, I have a little flatiron like the one you are holding...Never knew it was a mandola... It says it is made in Montana...I took it apart as the top was cracked..I ordered a guitar top --red cedar--to replace it ..something else I have to do this year.....

Sounds like a fun project. Are you sure yours is a mandola? Tunes differently than a mandolin, is bigger, and calls for a slightly longer reach. Lots of sound. Keep that top thin, and take your time. I'm sure we all want to see the finished product. We can wait, but don't forget.

Bob I suppose its a mandolin, but it looks like yours...I made a pattern and presently building a copy...I has been fun...I didnt have a spruce or cedar top so I used an old laminate top...This is just a prototype just to see if I could pull it off, and so far all is good...I dont expect a big sound from this one...Doug
