Beginners question: What does the R and comma to the right of the tab mean?
We'd need to see the tab and/or know what software you're using. I don't think I've ever come across that particular thing in tab.
It could mean ring finger if it's about how to finger something. That's the only thing I can think of that it might be. Again, I'd have to see the tab to maybe figure it out.

Just looking at the tab, it looks like they want you to take your pick and go across all strings, what I would call a "strum". I don't know why they use the letter "R", but it must mean something..... rake across the strings ..... maybe?
Try that and see if it fits into the music and sounds right.
Tom used that to make the tab program extend (ring) the bottom notes of the chords.
Apologies if this is too dumb of a question. I am a total beginner musically. How do you read something presented this way?

This looks like 'abc' notation, a system for using ASCII characters (what humans read) to store musical scores. An ABC converter will convert the ASCII plain text into notes on a musical scale.
