We'd need to see the tab and/or know what software you're using. I don't think I've ever come across that particular thing in tab.
It could mean ring finger if it's about how to finger something. That's the only thing I can think of that it might be. Again, I'd have to see the tab to maybe figure it out.

Tom used that to make the tab program extend (ring) the bottom notes of the chords.
Apologies if this is too dumb of a question. I am a total beginner musically. How do you read something presented this way?
