Foolin' around with the "Sovereign" banjo-mando I've got listed for sale in the classifieds. A fun 11-bar blues from the Mississippi Mudsteppers.

Thanks. I've also heard another source for the melody-- it's the horn line from a big band vocal!
Sadly I only heard it once on the radio and did not catch the artist or the title. That one was your basic 12 bar blues, not the 11 bar one the Mudsteppers created.
The Mississippi Mudsteppers did it in Bb, and used a banjo-mando for the lead, BTW. The 78 is findable on the web if you are interested. I think the New Lost City Ramblers did it in A, and WB Reid and the Canote Brothers also recorded it as part of a medley on their The Bing Bang Boys CD.
So much for me being original. ;-}

Many thanks! Yep, that is exactly the same as Jackson Stomp, but with lyrics stuck on top. Right down to the exact same tag. Very cool.
Looks like now I'll have to learn to sing the dang thing, too!
