Classical mandolin composition

Haha! That's why I couldn't recognize the compositions and blamed the sound (or extra accords) for his interpretation of the Fantastico. (Yeah, I am that dumb!). Well, the Capriccio Spagnuolo, that's more like it. - But wait, when I watch performances of this composition on You tube I hear these 'thin' mandolin sounds again. What's wrong with me?
My father was always searching for a 'richer' sound on his mandolin and sitar. (He also was an avid sitar player and he even performed in Holland, England en Germany. At home he constantly tried to perfect the bridge of his sitar. My mother and I got tired of him asking: 'Does this one sound better?' because we had no understanding of the subtleties he was looking for. He bought several pieces of ivory which he filed to experiment with the sound.)
My father first and foremost was a music pedagogue and most of his time was spent with teaching and music theory. Yet, already in his mid-sixties and at a family visit in Holland where most of his children live, he also visited the Amsterdam Conservatory. There he performed for the examiners, aiming for the practice diploma. The examiners were very impressed: an instrumentalist without formal training who could easily play all the prescribed classical mandolin compositions. He got his degree.
The mp3 I uploaded before was of his last mandolin concert. He was 72 and one year later (2003) he suffered a second brain stroke and he passed away. I will upload a video with the Capriccio Spagnuolo but I beg you not to be too harsh on the performance: eighteen months before, my father had suffered his first brain stroke which paralysed his left arm for several months. This house concert was a 'surprise' from his children in Holland to celebrate his 70th birthday and I know there was not enough time to practice (with the pianist).
Anyhow, you can clearly see and hear for yourself the mandolin he used for his performances. I hope that I can upload the video to my home page and that you don't need an url for You tube because I have nothing there.
