I'm still not particularly capable on the mandolin. But I've been having more fun since I bought a "traveler" mando (by redline acoustics) last November. There was a short Banjo Hangout discussion of this tune back in 2011, including links to some sound files from festival jams. It's one of those new old time tunes written by Steve Mason, of the Alferd Packer String Band. I downloaded one of the files and then it kind of just sat on my hard drives. Last night I was listening to a shuffle of tunes and this came around. I decided to do a quick version on mandolin, just to remind me. It's also the first time I've recorded the Red Line Traveler mandolin which I bought last November. I'm not much good on it, but it sure is fun.
