Joe Val Bluegrass Festival

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Performed with Sam Tidwell (Heritage Award Recipiant) on the main stage with my brothers Marc & Daveid and with Tex Orlemoski & John Stay.  What a great time.  Lots of great Mando players were there including Jimmy Gaudreau and Adam Steffy.

I grew up in a musical household. My dad is Sam Tidwell who spent most of his musical carreer in New England. Out of his 5 children I was the only one interested in Bluegrass Music. I started on mandolin when I was 5 and began on guitar when I was 8. I did not do a lot with it but I got to the point by High School where I was performing with some local bands and meeting other great musicins to help me step it up a notch. I went into the airforce and was stationed at Myrtel Beach SC. where I met more bluegrass musicians. When i got out of the Military in 1985, I started playing with a band called Bluegrass Suply Company. We toured up and down the Eastern Seaboard on and off for about 11 years and made 5 recordings during that time. Since then I have raised a family and played in local bands. I have been teaching at local music stores in that time also. 2 years ago a fellow teacher and recording engineer and myself came up with the design of Main Street Music Studios. We have a recording studio, 6 teaching rooms, CD/DVD douplication, band consultation, recitals for the students of all ages and all musical types ans styles. I am looking to expand my student bass and my teaching ability.
