So I've been playing mandolin for a while now and before that, guitar (go figure) but I've always been an acousic guy and never really took much interest in musical world of electronics. So about a year ago I bought a mandolin that happened to be electric only because I couldn't pass up the bargain. I played it for months without ever really giving any thought to thatt potential and then almost overnight I started getting super excited about all this new stuff I might be able to do, and conviniently a frieind of mine happened to be trying to get rid of a crappy little apm he owned so I eagerly took it off his hands. But like I said, I'm totaly a clean slate when it comes to amps and effects and pedals and what not so If y'all wouldn't mind too terribly starting from square one on this matter, I'd be much oblidged!
A couple questions come to mind:
As far as amps, are some more suited for mandolins as opossed to guitars or visa versa? any recomendations?
And since you almost never hear effects being used with mandolins (at least not to the extent that they're used with guitars) does that mean that mandolins have some limitation to that sorta thing or is it just that effects never really gained popularity amongst mandoliners???
I don't know - I guess in short I'm just really anxious to start experimenting and some basic do's and don't would be super helpful.
