This week I'm working on Desvairada by Garoto. As the weather gets warmer (and more humid) here in Nashville I love getting back into Brazilian Choros. Plus there are some interesting technical challenges with the triplets.
Curious what tunes y'all are working on and why?

Break for St Louis Blues. Lots of 3b to 3 and 5b to 6 slides over the root chord.

Nice! I love that tune. I think I actually learned it from a dixbruce jazz violin book years ago.

I hadn't heard the name of that one but I've definitely heard it played at a contra dance before. Really pretty tune.

Gavotte, since its the next tune in the Dix Bruce book.
Also, perfecting the opening lick to "Atlantic City," as the group I have been jamming with may start doing that one.

I think Seneca Square Dance is on the Norman Blake mandolin videos for Homespun. And for Thomas, yes, I pulled St Louis Blues from a Dix Bruce book; the Gypsy Swing one I think. I really like his instructional stuff.

I might tackle the Benny Goodman version of "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise" next week and I wanna say there's an arrangement in one of the Dix Bruce books but it's been several years and I don't remember.

Think I will begin on, " Shove That Pig's Foot a Little Closer to the Fire ". A very catchy little tune ! I'm a VERY slow learner on new songs but I will give it a try !
