Hi -- does anyone have a Zerega mandolin? They are 19th century, and usually have a label signed E. Zerega. I'm looking to buy one, but I'd be interested in any case to see
any owners' photos.

A quick google produces some interesting info. E.G.,

Wikipedia says: "Zerega's Spanish Troubadours were a mandolin and guitar ensemble active at the end of the 19th century in England.[1] They were directed by Eduardo Zerega, known in the mandolin world for a single work, Souvenir de Bovio. Less well known is the untimely death of his wife in 1896 in New York, that was described in the newspapers of the day, as the "Zerega Mystery". Zerega was the stage name of Edgar Hill and his wife May. While the Zerega's promoted themselves as from Madrid, Spain,[2] the Hills were born in Indiana, but moved to London shortly after they were married."

Here is a listing for one on Reverb:

It has a pick and a price of $69.

Here is a listing for one at an auction house in England. No pic, but they think it will bring 300-400 pounds.

Interesting history.

Thanks Yooper -- yes the history is very interesting, and I like the fact that they are signed and dated.
