I have a mint condition Eastman 805 with case that I almost never play. Was thinking about selling it to pay some bills but I'm not sure what to ask for it. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Your easiest approach is to surf reverb.com . There are several listed there now, ranging from $1,279 to $2,575 depending upon age, exact model, etc.

More accurately the new ones bring $1200 to 1300+ and these have varnish finishes. So $800 to $900 if it is pristine should move it. They come with cases new.

Agree with Robert. The best price I could find on a new one was $1149 with hard case and set up at the Mandolin Store. Others wanted more. And as Patrick pointed out, other features, like varnish finish would bring that up. But TMS, along with everyone else seems to be sold out of this model. So maybe it was discontinued? Anyway, if one were to take 25-30% off the new price for a used instrument, you land at $804-$862. That is probably what a mint instrument would sell for at a retail store, so private sale might be a bit less.

Thanks for the replies. FYI... the ones on Reverb look pretty terrible compared to mine. Mine seems to be worth about what I though. I hate to sell a good instrument but there are just too many strings at my house.
