I'm planning to drive thru Canada on my annual Maine-to Minnesota road trip this summer. I'm more aware of the exotic wood issues than I used to be, and am concerned that my 1916 Gibson A might raise a red flag and even be confiscated. I can't tell by looking at the wood if there's any Brazilian rosewood, or any of the other exotic woods on the "list."

The easiest answer to this problem is to leave the Gibson A at home for this trip...
It may be tough to leave it behind (in a safe place, of course), but think of the alternative...
If, heaven forbid, it was confiscated, you would be one very unhappy camper and for a very long time...
I would not dare take a chance with a prized possession such as your "A"...
Right now, you have the foresight and ability to prevent such a confiscation...
I would not even consider taking such a chance...
Hope this helps...
