Greetings,
I have been playing the Mandolin for about 5 months now, and I am loving it. I have learned most basic chords and can pick the melody of a few tunes ( I saw the light, Amazing grace, I'll Fly away, Power in the blood) but I am wanting to get more into the bluegrass type of playing, what is a good basic tune to start out with to advance my skills? I mostly have just played the singing parts of songs and would like to advance farther than that.

Well .... It's not a question of how long you have been playing. Early learner versions of most tunes and songs are out there and available. Here is a list of ten songs you will often hear at a jam. Learning them all will take some real time but will advance your skills. The keys of D , A and G are standard for fiddle tunes. C you will not find as often. When you finish off with this list you can investigate the keys of B, Bd ... B flat and F. Play on ... R/
