I recently traded my Hohner HFM-100 for a Gretsch G9350.  About the same cost and quality, but the Gretsch had a pick up, which sounds fine through my Peavey Vypyr.  Better sustain for Celtic music too.

I hated to let the Hohner go.  It's a way better build than most will allow it, especially after it was played in, but I already had a custom f-hole, f-style...

Anyone else trade up/down lately?

Is that the F style with the Oval hole?   I've been wanting to try one.   I have a Gretsch banjo and have tried a few of the other Gretsch "roots" series instruments and found them all to be surprisingly good.  I think you may have traded up : )

Hey there.  Sorry for the long delay.  I have gotten back to all things mando lately, including playing and visiting here.

That is the very same one, based on the old Gibson F4 type with the X-bracing.  I liked the Hohner, but the Fishman pick up on this new Gretsch was the dealmaker.  It sounds good, running straight through a Peavey Vypyr 150.
