Does anyone know and can post the winners. Thanks.

Not me! I have wondered about these contests. This is a pretty sleepy site and some days there are no new posts and sometimes for longer than that. Most posts only get one or two comments total. I am an early member and have posted quite a bit here. I noticed also who else is ACTIVE on Mando Hangout and you know who you are and you also know who isn't.

My question is --Has anyone who is an active member and participant on this site won one of these contests? I have no idea what the membership here is but of people who contribute on this site there has to be less than 100 regulars --any of you ever won?  I never win anything so I don't expect to ever win anything but if there is going to be a contest here you would hope that the people that contribute would end up winners and not some tourist!

Wish I could contribute more then a comment or two. But since I play a mandolin to amuse myself (or self-help therapy) there's really nothing I can offer. I come here at least once a day to see & listen to other "real" players, been given great tips, and will continue to visit.

I agree with Ben and Ricson, and do the same. I'm on here most every day and don't have a lot to contribute. I have been meaning to record my version of Alabama Jubilee and post it. I also enter every drawing but can't seem to win anything. I guess my reward is being blessed with good health. My 2 sons come over pretty regularly and pick & grin with me. That's also a blessing.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

I rather enjoy the quiet over here. It's a nice break from the hectic pace of everyone's two cents worth over at the Cafe. Some threads seem more like a witty pun, wisecrack contest. haha As to contributions... one can can always contribute a question, or an interesting YouTube link. I have been trying to get a little more active over here and I hope a few more do too.

One thought on the winners... it is possible that the contest sponsor (Grass Trax?) is doing the picking... You might check their site. It also could just be a delay in notifying the winners, and hearing back from them, before publicly posting any names. Just thinking out loud.

You have to consider contest entry full timers. People who hunt contests to enter and have nothing to do with this site or care. Talked to a DJ about that once --you know the "the third caller wins the tickets or the money" thing that happens on radio. He says that for the most part those contests are won by a very small percentage of people over and over again that have several phones making multiple calls and basically blitz the circuit boards and they hit often enough to make it worth their while. They've teched up to tweek the odds--- I suppose that could happen here as well. I just wonder if ANY of the regulars on this site have EVER won one of these contests! It's very likely even most likely that the sponsor does pick the winner. On any of these contests I have only submitted one entry and I guess you can do it over and over but I've just done one. I'm not whining that I haven't won it's just that it would be nice that one of the people that the contest is directed at would win. I'm still waiting for a winner to reveal themselves!

Probably the same person that won the last contest. That person wasn't revealed either. It was some DVDs.

I have won nothing here on MHO, and as a member of the Players' Union, I should not have to enter manually every day (that is supposed to happen for you automagically).

Seems to me that the process is somewhat self-defeating.  As has been pointed out, this site is little used.  Little traffic means small ad revenue and, so, smaller prizes.  In other words, big ticket items like mandolins are rarely given away.  (Then again, most contests have little I am interested in---I come for the content.)

I agree with Brad, the 'quiet' here at the MHO can be refreshing at times.  I much prefer the Talk-Little-But-Say-Much culture of the MHO.  Quantity of responses (as seen on other sites) does not necessarily mean quality.

That said, it takes very little effort to hit that 'Reply to Topic' tab.     To quote Nike:  Just do it...
