I'm trying to learn this tune from a Mike Compton performance, but progress is very slow. I've been watching youtube videos and listening to "Memories of John." Does anyone know of a better video, tab, or any other useful resource for this tune? Thanks for any help!

I remember hearing about that album fairly recently on this 'off the beaten path' radio station I listen to exclusively. If you can stream music on any computer w hi-speed, check out ckua.com. They have short (1-3 hour) programs mostly, and they play ALL genres of music - everything you've never even heard.
They also have a BlueGrass show, weekly, and play fantastic bluegrass chunes. Schedules and other info on the website.
You won't hear the junk that's on commercial radio. But they play everything from blues to opera. Expand your musical horizons. Listener supported - which is amazing - every 6 months they do a fund raiser. Hardly any commercials. And they tell you lots of info about every song they play. It's different. "Live on the net" or also on Shaw satellite tv, maybe others, Simply the best station on the planet.
You have not heard this.
That album is a tribute to John Hartford, with many famous musicians playing Hartford Songs. On ckua, they had interviews with those dudes, and then played their offerings. good show.
