Hi, I've been playing the banjo for about 7 years, and I won a mandolin at a bluegrass festival last weekend. I play a little fiddle, and my fiddle teacher also plays mandolin. Can't wait for my first lesson!

Welcome to the eight string nation Kathie. I think you'll find your banjo and fiddle experience will give you a good start on the mandolin.

Welcome! Went from six-string guitar to mandolin, and that had led to adding tenor guitar, tenor banjo and ukulele. I hope I don't find a stand-up bass soon......

Hah!! There is something about the challenge of trying a new instrument. I've gone from guitar to mandolin, to banjo (both tenor and 5), tenor guitar, cello, standup bass, fiddle. I think I'll only stop trying to learn new instruments when they won't fit in my casket. (note: I didn't say I could play any of them well....).
