Hello. Where is the "General mandolin discussion" forum? This should be the top forum where most of our general threads go, all the other forums here are more or less specialized.

What if one need to post a general question, or show something or a commentary that doesn't fit into Playing Advice, Building Advice, or the likes. Is it meant to use "Other Topics"? Why can't "other topics" then be named "General mandolin discussion", it will be the most busy forum of all. I think so anyway, what do you think?

The same un-intuitive structure is in the other hangouts also. It's not ideal, imo.

Best wishes to all Mandolinists :)

A General mandolin discussion forum could end up being a mish mash of playing advice, building & repair, classifieds and shopping -- that's why we have individual forums for specific discussions.  I think it works very well for all Hangouts.  Just my opinion, others may not agree.

Could end up in a mish mash yes, but that's easily avoided by moving a few super-specific posts to their correct forum. Already you see the Playing Advice forum being used as a "Hello everybody, I am new and want to hang out"-posts because there is no forum to just hang out, on this mando hangout. Ironic huh? :)

Since there's no moderator on this forum, moving posts would have to be done by the administrator -- and he has several other websites plus a full time job and I doubt he'd have time to read each and every post.

I hadn't noticed, but there isn't an off topic forum on the Mandohangout.  That would be a good place to just hang out.  Maybe it's not there because there are no moderators?

Sure there's an Off-Topic forum, it's right here: mandohangout.com/gotoforum/65

Off-topic forum is off topic here. I see that we use the playing advice forum for hanging out so it's no problem, I'll hang out there :)
