Hey phiddlepicker,
I use A7-D-A7-D-G-A7-G-A7-D, repeat. The second part has a G Bm E G A7. (A works too, but A7 sounds better, and is an easy 2-finger chord.)
This mostly gets the job done. Look at some guitar tab sites, and you'll find some additional chords. Those will make it sound much more like what Hodgson intended.

Thanks Patrick...I coulda looked it up...but I was interested in what you were using specifically. I appreciate you taking the time to type that out.

"Windy and Warm," worked it up on Mandolin, Tenor Banjo, and Banjolele. It was a little tricky on the Banjolele as I play it in "G" on the Mando & Tenor, so that makes it "D" on the Banjolele, but cool just the same.

trying to adapt a fiddle tune "Canon Reel" to mando....needs work, it's a lot easier to do the grace notes on fiddle

Hi folks I am new here. Today is Sunday. First tune I played yesterday was Norman Blake's 'Weathered Old Caboose Behind The Train.' Simple (and familiar) tune but IMO some brilliant wordsmithing by Norman. From Norman's Chattanooga Sugar Babe record ....er... CD.

Just pikn. I'm always pikn. Sometimes it's gets good. Still getting used to my new mando F. The F-style is quite different to the A-style. Still in the discovery stages, and still chasing setup stuff too.
But I like flat picking, and there's lots to learn. Maybe I should learn a song. ;)
On guitar, I learned a song called "Did you fall in love with me" by Prairie Oyster. It has a mandolin part, and a solo, in it - learning that would be fun. Especially cos now I have to mando to play it. It's hard to make a guitar sound like a mandolin - unless you capo the 17th fret. Weird. ;)
That's the news for this Saturday. At least I got the day right. ;)

I've been so immersed in work and skool that my mandolin playing has fallen off. Got some playing time in tonight though, so I guess it's a start.
