Anyone seen/heard of the Gretsch G9350? I got a notice in my e-mail, but so far there is only minor chatter out there online. I'm a little surprised Gretsch went with the oval hole (for marketing), but I am intrigued to hear one...

The New Yorker is pretty nice -knock off of their own "New Yorker" that they made decades ago and with f holes. I mean by that ----for the money. It's a quarter of the price of this one but this one includes the Fishman. These are almost certainly pressed tops. Chinese made but of somewhat higher standards than some others. Lots of competition in the F5 category but probably a niche market for F4's. They're not trying to sell every mandolin- just some.

I agree. They have to be pressed. Their online information makes no mention of the word "carved," hand or machine.

I would find it more appealing without the pickup. Knocking $200 off the price would put it under $600 (based on current prices in the UK).

Eastman has some solid carved/graduated tops on their oval holed mandolins right? Have some pretty slick looking F4 styles...Never played a one though...
