Last months tunes were "Shove that Pigs foot a little further into the Fire" and "Julianne Johnson". Go back and find the thread and have a swing at learning them.
This month, I figured we would do two really, really common old time tunes. These are good ones to learn, as they show up at jams and should be in the repertoire of any old time mandolin player.

"Cluck Old Hen" A great old modal tune in "A". A real favorite for banjo players using sawmill tuning. Everyone should know at least one version of this one. Tabs: archive.mandolinsessions.com/a...hony.html

I really like the way Adam Steffey recorded Cluck Old Hen on his last album: amazon.com/Cluck-Old-Hen/dp/B00CVHINHM Really great stuff and inspiring from Mr. Steffey!
Anyway, learn one or both tunes and see if you can post a version either as a youtube or Mp3 for the fun of it. Hopefully we'll get a lot of participation this month.

Here is Cluck old Hen. I laid down a clawhammer banjo track, then played along with the mandolin. Ahhh...the magic of the multi-track. Fun tune that's playable a lot of ways.
