Curious on this as I have some wonderful books by Allen Alexander that I'm starting to noodle with once again.

Funny you should ask.  I have a co-worker who is a classical guitarist.  Last week we discovered one another's musical inclinations, and talked about playing together, so I hit my library.  I found a copy of Baroque Music for Mandolin by Robert Bancalari.  Nice little Mel Bay offering.  Trouble is, the d*** CD was missing.

Do you (Does anyone) have a copy?

I sometimes pick medieval tunes on my mandolin from memory. Recently picked up a book, "Southern Italian Mandolin and Fiddle Tunes" by John T LA Barbera. Some of the music in this book dates to Renaissance or earlier. It was part of a person to person transmission, a tradition of street music.

I play a fair amount of Renaissance tunes. Take a look at some English country dance tunes, as well; Playford's collection was after the Renaissance, but not a lot later, so the tunes sound similar.

I love Renaissance music! I've been trying to find some music for my mandolin. I'll look into that Baroque Music for Mandolin (Mel Bay) TSSN mentioned. Thanks.
