Could anyone help identify the maker or brand of this mandolin? I thought it may be a Kay, Kay Kraft or Regal, but as you see the label is missing from the peg head. It has the number L2414 339 stamped inside. There is no other identifying information. Thanks in advance for your help.

Kay, Kaykraft, Stromberg Voicinet, Old Craftsman and some more names were all used by what became Kay/Harmony and eventually just Harmony. They also manufactured for other distributors such as "Oahu" to be branded by them. This mandolin is from that family. There is a good chance that the body is laminated. The pressed top could be solid or laminated. Some of these can sound pretty good, I was listening to someone the other day that was playing a Kay built mandolin and was someone that probably could play anything they wanted and they chose the Kay. This one looks in remarkable shape. It could go back to the 20's but I'm guessing 1930's, no particular reason, I'm just getting a 30's vibe from it.

Thanks Ben,
I too think it is from the 1930's. I wish it still had the label. It is in great condition and very good tone. It is laminated.
