My mom passed away a month ago and she passed down to me a mandolin which has been passed down t\for four generations now. My great grandfather was known to carve the name out of his instruments but that doesnt look to be the case. We can not find a makers mark or a serial number. It looks like its hand craftted. Anyone able to help me? I would like to know more about its history

Welcome MsAngeeDepp. Condolences on the loss of your mother.
I have no info about your mandolin, but having been handed down for four generations certainly makes it an heirloom, whatever other value it may have.
You will probably get more responses to your inquiry if you provide more and larger pictures with more details. There are lots of folks on this site that specialize in old bowl back mandolins (sometimes affectionately known as "tater bugs"), but it's hard to see much from those pictures. It looks to me to be a pretty generic unlabeled American made model from perhaps the 1920s, but that's just a guess.
