Hi all,
looking for info on a "J & A. M. London", Broadcaster, banjo mandolin.
I`m a tenor banjo player and really just picked up this sad and neglected wee instrument as a refurb project.
No feedback from any of the guys and gals on BHO yet, so thought I would check you folks out.
Know it was made by J & A Margolin, a Radio & Furniture manufacturer, and was probably a cheapo, but would love to get this thing up and running again. Any thoughts ?
Regards, John

The mandolin part might save you but the banjo part might cause a bad case of ignorance. Be careful, personally I wouldn't sleep in the same room with it unless I was armed, maybe a hammer would do.

Only a BAD, BAD WOMAN will save me Ben.
Wont be a problem for me to get this sad wee instrument up and running again.....just thought your community might have some info, that`s all.
And remember, NEVER TAKE A HAMMER TO A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT ! EVER !
You`ll be burning books next,
John

How about a dulcimer? Xylophone? I was just thinking it might make a pretty good mute. Books make pretty good kindling, or so I'm told by my friend that has a used book store. The Brits made quite a few of those things. Most of the ones I've seen have quite small heads compared to the ones made in the US. I have no info as to J.& A.M. could be. Could be a manufacturer or a distributor, just like what happens here with some brands.

There ya go --a clawhammer! I prefer a "Plumb" brand meself. 16oz. with a wooden handle for more delicate stuff and a 20oz. fiberglass handle for a more hard driving effect.
