Does anybody use the Gibson Monels and how do you like them. My research shows they're resistant to going dead and corrosion.

Tried them ... didn't like them ... too bright... almost tinny .... I like bronze...... every mando is different though, not to mention personal taste... give'em a shot.. you and your mando might like them ..... good thing about monel is it's tough and strings made from it last.... I tried maybe a dozen brands of strings to settle on the ones I use ... R/

Just to muddy the water a bit, I'm using Monels at the moment and like them a lot better than J74s as they are warmer and less harsh but still loud! My other mandolin sounded great with J74s but this one doesn't. Plus they have been on for a long time and still sound good and haven't shown much wear on the underside.  The lesson here; different strings for different mandolins.smiley
