Has anyone played the Ovation Acoustic Electric Mando?
I am thinking about getting one. This will be my first mandolin.
I have an Ovation Celebrity Guitar that I love playing. It comes out for Christmas especially. The red Ovation mando would be perfect in that setting. I am thinking that having the pkugin will eliminate the need for separate miking and may be worthwhile in the long run.
I want something durable that would be at home doing bluegrass, but also for jammng with some folk musicians.
Any thoughts? This is my first post on this forum. I would much appreciate any word on your experience with this mando specifically.
Note - Ovation current has two mandos - one that sells in the high three hundred to five hundred range and the other that goes for over a thousand. I was thinking about getting the lower end one.

I fear this mandolin may not fit the bluegrqss genre well.
I test drove one over the weekend. Not as distinctive as the F styles. I may instead opt for a Washburn so my banjo will have a matched sibling. Looking at an acoustic electric so I can plug in.

I have the cheaper ovation and would recommend as a first time mando. It has a a loud and deep tone and is a good buy for the money. Plus having the pickup is an added bonus. I bought an f style Breedlove and ended up returning it after hearing it beside the ovation.

I ended up ordering the Washburn M3SWE. It is also a red mando like the Ovation, but F style. I saw one of these on a music video - Shioban. I will probably start a new thread on that one.
