Ive had a cheap one now Id like to get a nicer one. I'm looking at Kentuckys 500-600 models Loars 400-700 models and ive read a lot of good things about eastman but never played one i think 505or 605. any other good suggestions around that range im open to anything would prefer and f style but know you get more for your money with an A and suggestions or tips would be appreciated

I have an Eastman 605 and I love it. I've played a 505 and didn't really see a lot of difference in how they played nor how they sounded. My brother owns a Kentucky and he's quite happy with it, but I think we both like the Eastman a little better.

MD505 and MD605 work the same as far as I can tell. MD605 fancier. I've sold gobs of each.

Thanks for the tips so far after doing some more research I think ive come to the conclusion that eastman is the best in this price range but it is at the top end of it. Another thing what the differance between a loar 520 and 400 the 400 cost more and is a A style so im guessing it a lot better mandolin with F style costing more if all things are equal

The 400 does appear to be higher quality and sounds better to my ears.

Ok I think ive got i narrowed down to a Loar 400 and a eastman 505 and i really can decide. Ive heard loar neck are very thick anyone have any experiance with this? If someone can make a solid argument id probably go with that one. both are going to be around 500$
