I would like to upgrade my simple black trussrod cover on my Loar LM-400VS. I would appreciate any advice as to places where you can purchase trussrod covers (2-screw type) already made, that aren't too terribly expensive. I would like to get one with perhaps a Dove on it, or my name or initials, or something else even.

I made mine from and old piece of ivory pried from an old junk piano. Traced the outline from my old cover to the ivory, drilled the holes and filed/sanded the shape out. If you got access to a Dremal tool and a steady hand you can engrave it yourself also. Didn't cost me a thing but time.

I make mine from sheet Ebony. Usually cut-offs from the headstock veneer. Easy to inlay, sand, and finish.

Great ideas, you all! I hadn't thought of making one, but I probably could. And I do have a dremel.
I just don't know how to do an inlay, is all.
