Does anybody else teach mandolin online? What software do you use? Have you tried Skype? Do you like it? Do you have a special mic or webcam you like best?
I've been teaching mandolin lessons online for a couple years. I started back in '08 when a student broke her foot and wasn't going to be able to come to lessons for several months. I started using MSN IM and later switched to Skype.

Hi mandoteacher,
I have never taught mandolin, but have wondered about practicing, and jamming using Skype. Did you experience any problems, such as delay between the remote parties when using Skype?
Thanks

Hi Robby. Yes there will be a delay depending on the connection speed of both parties. I'm on a T1 here, but my student in North Carolina is on DSL, so sometimes there's a delay.

Thanks for that - sounds like it's more useful for teaching then!
