Where can I purchase some light gauge Mandola strings if there is any such thing, and how high off the fingerboard at the end of fingerboard is each string, like is it 3/32 or 5/32 or what, I have a mandola I built seven years ago, I want to get into adjusting it, the strings I have now are too hard to press down on.............................Dennis in Az

Here is a source for Mandola strings, some are labeled as light.

A string height at the 12th fret of 1/16" or 5/64" should do fine. 3/16" may be a little tough as far as the fretting-pressure is concerned. But light strings will not need as low an action as medium ones.

Try to look at some makers' webpages (i.e. daddario.com)
