A good used F under $500 ??? All the ones I have seen are PAC-RIM in general -try the Mandolin Store. For example..... They have a Rover RM-75 F Mandolin with Case (RM75) for $419.00. I think there were a few in the low to mid $500 range like Washburn, and Loar.

Best of luck.....

In Bristol TN at Morrells Music, If they still have it in Stock, is a New Washburn Mandolin that is Cheap and I would actually play this mandolin on stage. It looks like a distressed Model. Very Neat Instrument!

I have a The Loar with a stable crack and finish issues the LM 600, I would sell for right at $500 or best offer. 502-229-8255

Good F model and >$500 are mutually exclusive. You can get a mediocre F5 for that though.

I have never seen nor played a "good" F model for under $500.
At least not one that I would spend $500 on.
For that price you COULD get a decent A model, if you shopped around hard enough.

Is there a specific reason you need an F?

Depends on "decent." Could mean many things.

I have a nearly new Loar LM600, used, at $500. Off on trial at the moment. If it comes back, you're welcome to it. No issues. I'll know early this week.

I thought I wanted an F then realised it was the look I was after...then I looked at A's and found a fantastic A series J Bovier, solid carved top - paid £450 UKP and it held its own tone wise and feel against £1000k instruments also in the store. Unfortunately, the store only now stocks very high end mando's...which is great if youve got megabucks....not so good for mere morals though...Id say go for an A shape!

I agree. You get the same sound from an A model for much less money. The scroll, points and headstock scroll can double the cost with no real gain in sound quality. It's all decorative. In that price range you'll do much better with an A style.

WOW! If it's in good shape that is a great deal. It would be hard to find a better deal on an F model than that.

TI USER, its now sold! I didn't think it would last long.
