With four mandolins I play equally and rotate every day ! I don't change strings very often ! Normally about every two months just so I don't forget how ! :) Some brands wear quicker than others and my ears determine when ! BUT, on my Girouard oval A I have the original Curt Mangan Monel's still on it and I have never changed the strings ! Now, here is the unexplainable part ! I have owned this mandolin since 2018 !! It sounds great since new and still the same strings ! I just don't get it ! :)

That's all I needed to read. I would say to leave them on.

I have a Weber Vintage strung with the new D'Addario XS strings. I have played it out side in humid, hot conditions at several gigs and those strings still sound like new. Not every string will do that. So I remember which strings I have on the instrument to get lasting good sound.
