I have had the privilege to travel and live extensively in the East. One such time was a trip to Nepal, Tibet and India during a turbulent time in my life. The cultural diversity I experienced on that trip was quite healthy and healing. I gained an appreciation for Indian Classical Music as a result and this video reflects that —
Steven,
I was in Hong Kong and Guangzhou for almost 4 weeks in 1998. I have lots of great memories, but on the musical front I remember distinctly one elderly fellow playing an erhu every day as my group headed for the Star Ferry. It's pretty amazing what people can do musically with just 1-2 strings.
That’s very cool — I still remember the Tibetan horns in Lhasa — most of the musical memories are from Thailand during my mid tour in 1991 — string bands at a lot of the restaurants— very unique sounds and you’re definitely right as a lot of their instruments have 2 or 3 strings— I don’t begin to know the names of what they were playing so you're light years ahead of me on that one
