Having played mostly Bluegrass Mandolin and only owning F style Mandolins with FF sound holes I had decided to treat myself to a real Handmade American oval hole Mandolin. Well with money being tight in my house this Christmas I had narrowed my search to the Mandolin Stores "Lafferty - LA-2 or the Pava. Today I got an email from the Mandolin Store for their Black Friday Sale and there was a sale for the Lafferty LA-2 on sale but there was also a contest where you could win a SA-2, so me being the OCD type I read the fine print in the contest rules which I will past below. Pay attention to the date your entry has to be received by, bare in mind I got the email this morning 11/28/2013. I wonder what the odds are of me getting a letter from Virginia to Surprise , Arizona by 11/30/2013? From where I sit this is nothing more than a game of three card monty or to just say it in plain english, a scam! here's the unadulterated Ad... I guess it will be a Pava under my tree!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS
I would be careful about using the word "scam" in reference to The Mandolin Store. There is probably no more customer friendly and customer service oriented company on the planet. They work very hard to make sure their customers are happy. I'm sure Dennis would be very unhappy about such an accusation.

Pava does not yet produce a oval hole mandolin.
I suspect also your beef with TMS is in same category. Mistake on your end.

A little late on this one but I've got to say that I've had nothing but great service from The Mandolin Store. I've purchased mandolins, accessories and strings from them over the past few years. I would not hesitate to go back to them. I will "rah rah" for them because they put out a quality product at a competitive price and their communications have always been timely.
The OP apparently missed the first email blast sent out. Joe Stout is a rude person who is not welcome to shop with us. He bought a Lakota leather strap. It came apart............instead of calling us he immediately filed a paypal dispute. I called him to ask why he did that and he was not very nice. Later he tried to buy something and I told him he was not welcome to shop with us and that if he was any kind of guy he would have sent the strap back we could have gotten a credit and he told me I could come to Texas and dig through the trash for it. He also made negative comments about a video with me and my dad in it on you tube and loves to swear. I don't need people like this in my life. Any customer who chooses to act this way will not be a customer at TMS. We do out very best to treat people right and I will not tolerate the kind of abuse and poor behavior that Joe Stout wants to give out. He's been booted from Mandolin café.....................The folks at Weber even have had problems with this guy too. This guy is a problem just waiting to happen.
Dennis Vance
Here is another vote for TMS. Several years ago I bought a mandolin from Dennis and crew and they treated me like a king. There were some problems beyond their control and they bent over backwards to resolve all issues to my supreme satisfaction. When I make my next mando purchase their store will be my first stop.
Never having dealt with the Mandolin store in any way, I have no idea how they deal with customers but when I read the negative posts here, semi-literate as they are, I give the benefit of the doubt to the store.
OP, do you know the difference in meaning between "bare" and "bear"? Look it up, it will help you say what you mean.
The Mandolin store is one of the Best places to purchase a Mandolin. I have purchased 2-Gibson Mandolins from the Mandolin store
with no issues and i got a really good deal. These guys take the extra mile to do what you need so don't pay attention
to some of these Gabbers on here cause i personally have been there and the are A-1 rated. I highly would say
spend your money here with these guys. They will work with what ever you needs are. They will also work with
a trade in to get what you need. I will be back for my goodies in the future.
I bought a Collings mandolin from themandolinstore in 2019, and my shopping experience was the best and smoothest I have ever experienced. Their service on delivery was super fast. What I don't like is that instead of the store being 4 hours away, it is now 40 hours away. But I understand that the marked in Tenn is probably much better than in AZ and the west coast.
Look, the owner was working on the Black Friday e mail and mistakenly sent it out in error. He corrected it with another e mail apologizing for his mistake and clarifying the dates of the promotion. So what exactly is the problem? They also moved to Nashville months ago. Anywhere you buy stuff from is a business. Businesses exist to make money.
Mr. Kirby's reputation within the ranks proceeds him. TMS, Weber, and others have had issues with him.
I've read his profane YouTube rants. It's clear he carefully worded his Mando Hangout post so as to not get reprimanded or blocked from using this site.
Probably best to make note of this and allow this nonsense to drop into the depths of previous posts.
