Not yet, I've been so busy at work and with preparing for an upcoming festival. I'm playing bass with 3 different acts and possibly a fourth so I've been spending all my time trying to learn 4 different sets. Whew! Anyway, I'll let you know what happens. I'm going to re-string and give it a good once (or twice) over sometime this week.

Tuesday?  I think, as John Mellencamp would say, It's Just Another Day...

How about that mando tail piece?

Hey TSSN. Sorry I've been away. Turns out it wasn't the tail piece. There was a screw loose on the pick gaurd, or should I say finger rest! Anyway, I think I fixed it.

I was actually talking to a buddy of mine that has been playing Mandolin for years. He said every now and then he will get a mysterious buzz (happened on more than one of his Mando's) and he said it can be maddening trying to find out where it comes from.

Anyway, have a great day!

Glad you tracked it down.  You can't focus on playing well when stuff like that happens.

Wow, another update. Thought I fixed the buzz with the pick guard. WRONG! Turns out it was the volume knob. The nut was loose under the knob. I tightened it up and NO MORE BUZZZZZZ!

It was a hardware issue after all. You didn't actually explain what the instrument was or that it had knobs and some sort of pickup arrangement---I would have gone there first. That stuff gets loose or worse, that's why those rock and roll guys have a "guitar tech" that tours with them. My acoustic stuff gets set up and I can ride it hard and put it away wet and for years and it's always the same when I pick it up,not so with the electric stuff. The instrument needs tweaked or the amp needs tweaked or there's a bad connection somewhere--or something has a buzz. I use Mesa amps because the factory is near here----"It's got a buzz, fix it!"

I agree with you Ben. When I originally bought my Mandolin, I had no idea what I was doing and I do a lot of home recording. So I thought I needed a pickup. Little did I know. I have since gotten a nice studio condenser Mic and I Mic everything now. I don't even use the pickup anymore. I also have 2 acoustic guitars I use quite a bit. I have an Epiphone with a pickup and EQ which I use when playing with my loud rock n roll band. But when playing with my acoustic/bluegrass guys, I always use my Honer Acoustic. No pickup and it has a nice deep rich tone. That's the one I use in the studio as well. Plus the strings are a bit further apart and it has a wider neck than the Epiphone which makes fanger pickin easier.

Play on...

I'm about $1,500 short on cash, and I would get shot for the mere suggestion, but I just can't stop obsessing over this pretty Stelling here.  Someone go buy it quick and put me out of my misery.

Wow! That's nice. I wonder how it sounds? I've been thinking (operative word-thinking) about getting another one. I'm leaning toward a Weber.  cool

To me, it sounds amazing.  I was in Morgan Music a week ago and had a chance to play that very one.  I was quite taken with it.

As an Irish-American, I have no problem drinking alone or before noon, but c'mon folks.  How about a pickin' story...
