A friend and I played around with a different arrangement. I set an old Tascam DR05 field recorder enarby and captured it to practice with. Thought I would share and see what y'all thought.

This is a studio demo recording that we did several years ago (2008?). After a period of several years of not playing we have gotten back together. I was digging around and found this. Kind of forgot we did a few tunes in the studio. The band name is 36 Degrees North (the latitude we live on...). I play mandolin in this group. Hope you enjoy it. I am trying to learn more about recording and thought Clinch Mountain Backstep would be a good project. I play the mandolin, banjo and resonator guitar parts. Guitar rhythm and Bass are courtesy of the Band In A Box RealBand software. Hope y'all enjoy my arrangement of this classic Bluegrass tune.

Had not done any recording for a long time. Cold snowy day outside so I thought I would give it a go. I like Cuckoo's Nest and thought it would be a good medley companion for Forked Deer. Hope you enjoy...

Suffering from cabin fever so dragged out some recording gear and pieced together a recording of Dixie Hoedown. This is one of my favorite tunes. I don't have a really great recording space or particularly good recording/mixing skills but I had a lot of fun and that is what I was after. I played and tracked all the parts. Hope y'all enjoy it.

I threw this quick version of East Tennessee Blues together for a band mate to practice with. Being an incessant tinkerer I had to add some backup and then mess with the mix. It's a somewhat acceptable recording. I'm playing a 2006 Passernig F5 mandolin and a 1977 Mossman Timber Creek guitar (with worn out strings) on this rendition... Hope you enjoy it.

I had recently learned these two tunes and liked them. During practice I ran the two tunes together and thought they would work as a medley. I could point out a lot of warts in the recording but then again I am never satisfied with what I do. So here it is warts and all. Hope everyone enjoys the tunes.

I decided to tinker around with some multitracking a while back. I have always liked St. Anne's Reel and decided to record it. I played the melody on Resonator Guitar and Mandolin and play some guitar rythym for it. I played the tune a little more slowly and deliberately than it is usually played. It changes the feel of the tune a bit. I played a 1981 Carlson/Flatiron mandolin A5-2 on this recording. Hope you enjoy it.

This is my attempt at a favorite John Hartford tune. Since I can't sing worth a darn I did it as an instrumental (which is fairly common). I play mandolin and resonator guitar on the recording. The Band in A Box RealTracks band helped me out on guitar rhythm and bass. I have a new recording interface and software and I am still learning so the recording quality is so-so. Hope y'all enjoy my attempt at it.
