I was born in Liverpool and I started playing the guitar in 69 then the mandolin in 72. I learned to play traditional fiddle as a teenager and was a pupil of James Carmichael of Ballymena. I turned pro in 79 and since then I've toured, gigged and recorded all over Europe, Scandinavia and the USA. I make and restore violins and I also restore and set up mandolins and I teach Fiddle, Mandolin and Guitar. I'm a song writer and I'm also a tune writer. I made a Fiddle tutor DVD which is available worldwide via Folk Academy and MelBay. I have released 7 solo albums and I've appeared on numerous others.
