Complete newbie to the Mandolin, usually over in the fiddle hangout as even though I play lots of different instruments I primarily fiddle. Always liked the mandolin, and found an old one for $15 at a barn sale just yesterday. Talked to the lady who sold it to me, she said it was her grandfathers (apparently he had a whole bunch of them). It has fantastic sound, still in tune even! So I'm joining here to learn more about them, what kind of mando I've got, how to replace the strings & play it! Please take a look at the pictures I've uploaded and tell me anything you can.
