I just learned of the passing of Earl Scruggs. Earl is the last of the original 1946 lineup of the Bluegrass Boys that started it all. There probably isn't a banjo player alive today that wasn't influenced by Earl.
Earl was the man! ---and a gentleman. He was 88 I read. He changed the world, not many people get to do that! He'll be missed. I've always thought of Earl Scruggs as equal to Bill Monroe as the creator of bluegrass music. Without his banjo bluegrass very likely would not have happened!
One of the greatest figures in all of Bluegrass Music passes away and the Mando Hangout has a grand total of 4 responses to it. Even that is less than I have come to expect from this lame site. Just when I think there might be some hope for MHO, it just gets worse. I'm coming real close to giving up on it all together.
